Re: Vanrock 101 Newbie platter noise
Curious if anyone had a fix for what Evan was experiencing. My Atom (Vanrock) just started making this noise out of the blue. It doesn't happen while cutting fortunately, but worried over time if I don't address it, it might. It only happens when moving back to the start position, and then a small a...

Re: Cutting Polycarbonate with a Diamond Stylus?
Not 100% sure. I do know the guy I purchased it off got it from Vansix who shipped it with a diamond. It is in their paperwork too. But I am no expert. Not sure what was originally used on the machine.

Re: Cutting Polycarbonate with a Diamond Stylus?
Unfortunately I have no way of knowing for sure. I don't have a microscope. I purchased it off a guy who seemed to know what he was doing and said it had a diamond that he only cut a few times on. Might have to send it in for sharpening, or just dive in for a new one.

Re: Cutting Polycarbonate with a Diamond Stylus?
Wait, are you Joe (Displaced Snail Publications)? A friend turned me on to your site, been wanting to order a few things for some time. Thanks for the tip, I was just getting anxious but looks like my other blanks are showing up today so going to wait and save the PC ones for embossing down the road...

Re: Welcome, Newbies! Say Hi in this thread!
Hi all, my name is rob and just purchased an Atom A-101 a few weeks back and learning the ropes. I run a very small punk/experimental/noise music label called spareorgan that has mostly consisted of cassette tapes since 1991. I also run a letterpress studio with 3 antique printing presses that I use...

Re: Cutting Polycarbonate with a Diamond Stylus?
Thanks Displacedsnail! I think I got confused by the newbie guide, under the diamond cutting needle section it lists . (PC, PVC, PETG, LD/A) so I assumed PC was able to be cut with a diamond. The trouble I am having is the embossing grooves are to shallow for a 7” I’m trying to do for a friend who w...

Cutting Polycarbonate with a Diamond Stylus?
Hi all, very new to this. I recently purchased an Atom A-101 machine. It came with a diamond stylus in good shape. I have searched over the board and can't find a good answer if you can cut polycarbonate with a diamond stylus. Possible? Bad idea?
