Actually, Mike those DMM lathes work full time and they’re looking for another one but it’s still a good plan. :-)

WIthout confirming if other lacquers plated properly before and after your lacquer, you are just guessing. Good luck.

Re: Masterpiece & colored discs project back on track.

Coingratulations on your progress. The failure to plate the lacquer may not be entirely due to the lacquer disc. I take it youv have confirmed that other lacquers plated properly in that same bath before and after your lacquer?

Re: Acetate forensics

The lead-in groove might start with a nearly-locked first groove before it spirals across to the music start. It might not be nearly locked. The pitch of this spiral can be adjusted so there might be more grooves in the lead-in or less. Each lathe even at the same facility might be slightly differen...

So you want to get stampers made. Try the usual galvanic facilities.

Re: The First STEREO CUTTER HEAD S001 BLUETOOTH

Suggesting one connects their cutterhead as per that photo ís disingenuous. Obviously they didn’t have the obsolete Harting connector and did very well in improvising. You could have posted a pic with the correct cutterhead cable which would negate your argument but you decided to go with this inste...

You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should. :D  I'm with drdub on this one. There is no reason to have a wireless head on a machine. I'm reminded of a talk I attended by Tim Vear when he was Vice President of Engineering at Shure Inc and head...

Re: Lathe Trolls 20th anniversary is Tuesday!

Good question, but firstly… congratulations Steve on providing an invaluable resource that has helped the beginner, the hobbyist and pro cutters in connecting and sharing resources to bring lathe cutting and general disc cutting to where it is today! A big 10/10 for that.

Sorry to revive a thread that's 5 years old. Anyone had success with this? I'd be very interested in a system that works.
You can buy a new BPS stylus which is about €1,000.

I have a new Stanton BPS stylus. Just need to make a left handed turntable for it.

Re: Elasticstage - short run record production

Thanks for posting. As we could already tell, they're lathe cuts and yet they raised £3.5m from investors (that's 4.2m euro, 4.5m USD) !! A few things stood out in the IPO document and I don't see the need for a patent. Their mention of stampers being made of nickel or copper shows how they have no ...

Re: Bio vinyl, sustainability, vinyl record plants promoting it etc

More than likely new moulds seeing as laserdiscs were made of two halves bonded together, if I’m not mistaken. The most impressive thing I saw there was a VMS70-DMM lathe. Flo has excelled once again! Anybody notice the video camera installed on top of the existing Leitz microscope?
