i'm curious about the angle. does that allow you to cut deeper? I've been embossing lexan with just a backwards stylus and no significant angle. With a Capps stylus, it works fine. With an adapter and used Neumann stylus it does not. Do you think the angle would change that? What advantages do your ...

thank you for this info.
I really appreciate your help and dedication to furthering the craft!
as a newer guy it's always good to learn what people use, and how people intend to keep using the same sort of equipment in the future. (trading a caruso for a neumann head etc)

Success! Sounds like a nice job for a rainy sunday afternoon :D I could imagine something like nail polish or nitro lacquer would do the job for glueing the coil together. BTW did take some pictures, or can make one of your cutter? never seen a BSR head... Lukas glad to hear it! is there a way you ...

:D That makes sense. Thanks! Learn something new every day. The needle is a little sluggish compared to today's meters. Still, I wonder why piano was mentioned and not all percussion in general. Not many drum solos in 1940? I would have to say because piano music is normally solo, and up front. per...

Hey, I'm about to upgrade these charts. A few more LPIs on each end. Better subdivisions so it is easier to read. Also, I wonder about the amount of cutting space I'm claiming for 7" records. I think the "Extreme" version should allow for more time. Requests? I have records that use at least 1 1/4 ...

I check the wiki a lot, and send a bunch of people who are confused about the process. Hopefully I'll be able to add more knowledge as I get started with the 6N, but I would love to see more Neumann/pro info as well!

I'm using the little aluminum plate to shift the head to the left, and making sure that my stylus sticks out a ways so the head clears the center post, and I can cut all the way in until the stylus runs into the center circle thingy. I make 4" records that way. that sounds like the best way. also 4...

a couple Presto 6N questions

1. what head do you use with your 6N? are there other brands of heads that fit the carriage? 2. how is your audio routed from your amp to cutter head? we have the original turntable that comes with those terminals, I'm still trying to sort them out in my head. we have the 92-B amp and the 1-D cutter...
