Oh, and that clear rubber seems to be decently flexible...don't know that I should change it out or not.

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
Yes it does make sense. In my case, I get the idea that the bottom disc is not threaded, but perhaps soldered to the armature....I think this based on how much of the screw goes in and where the treads catch. Does anyone have a 500ohm head that they can measure for dcr? I want to make sure I am righ...

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
I am a tad confused about the construction of this thing. Mostly I'm not sure how the dampening matterial is in contact with anything mechanical. The set screw doesn't thread through the disc mounted in the dampening foam/rubber does it? It seems that it feeds straight through these discs.

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
So I have two Presto 1-C cutter heads. They seem mostly the same but the dampening matterial. One is a clearish amber. And one is more of a custardy looking foam. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/gretsch57/2014-10-01%2020.53.40_zpsbojutyy1.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/gretsch57/201...

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
Been a while since I've posted, but I have made some more progress. The Collins 212A-1 Broadcast Console is more or less ready to rock, and I have now added an Ampex 350 to the studio. Here is my poorly staged Sam Phillips pic! http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/gretsch57/2014-09-11%2007.51.25_zp...

These videos are great! Thanks for posting. We need more of this stuff for sure. How about a video of a cut showing the crank in and the lock out groove etc.?

Ok, so I have wired up the what happened to be the second table to see if the motor would go. And it did. I have to replace the resto of the stuff that hold the lever in place. Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
Yup, it took me a bit to find switches that I liked. It seems that the switch that is an on-off-on momentary is a good option because the resting position is straight up and down. You have to make sure the momentary switch you choose is pushed far enough to close the circuit. I have done this with b...

Change of plans on the switch. This momentary toggle is right on the money.

Re: Presto 6N guidance suggestions? (piecing together)
So here's a slight update. I found some vintage push button switches to be used in place of the toggle. I read somewhere that some of the later lathes actually used a pushbutton instead. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/gretsch57/2013-12-02165552_zpsb67e3af0.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/album...

The EQ may be a project for down the road a bit. I think getting the cutter working at 78 rpm will be a feat in itself. I should be close to this at some point in the coming months.

Re: Presto 160A and 190A Equalizers...Differences
I have a slider unit and the switch unit. Mine is the 190-A Slider. The switch unit appears to have selections for frequency ranges...and the switch also has a provision that would make it so two turntables could be filtered through the range feature. My switch for the frequency range is busted up. ...
