Re: Vinyl Recorder - Stylus heating HELP PLEASE!
when cutting pvc we tend to NOT heat the stylus heting at all. you will get an absolutely quiet groove just by heating up the blanks. however, it takes time to find out the exact temperature, cause humidty, batch of record, room temperature, condition of stylus are all paramters that have to be tak...

Re: Dissappearing grooves!
Are you using Souri's automatic switcher?? Sometimes the sensor gets too close to the counter weight arm.. Especially if you are switching thicknesses.. For example from a 2mm disc to a flexi... Counterweight arm goes up higher and the sensor for auto switcher can limit the range of vertical movemen...

Re: Vinylrecorder and blank disks
Have you talked to Souri about the defective blanks? He's usually pretty quick and happy to replace for you. I had a handful with the center holes not being the right size, also a small batch with some "humps" in them.. I reached out and he quickly replied and said "this is problem with manufacturer...

Re: vinyl recorder chip pickup issues
I definitely cut at a lower temperature than Souri recommended during training. Especially with stylus heating, there's less need to make it quite so hot. - I say this too because I was having similar issues with chip balling up when I would drop in. once I started heating the disc less, I had less ...

Did you ever have this issue resolved? Did you say you bought this unit indirectly? Not from Souri?

Re: Angulo Records lathes of Argentina....wah huh?
Love the design, but would have been easy enough to have included a vacuum system, not unlike Souri's VinylRecorder. Also, the torque will probably be an issue if you're going to be putting significant weight on the cutterhead / platter. Maybe not for 7", but definitely anything with a bigger diamet...

Re: Vinylrecorder VS vinilium for dubplates and lacquer
But I will add this.. just to clarify for ya!! Make some sense for ya!! Correct me if I am mistaken, but if you want to cut a certain volume, you must allow yourself a certain groove depth (for tracking) and groove distance so groove aint slamming into each other. If I was cutting an LP that contain...

Re: Vinylrecorder and Sapphire / Ruby
Oh yeah!! The issue was that the torque tube didn't have the proper taper. Souri fixed it right away.opcode66 wrote:You should let the community know what the issue was.
Cuttin real good now and stuff!!

Re: Vinylrecorder VS vinilium for dubplates and lacquer
I've been cutting master lacquers on the Vinylrecorder for months now and have had great results! A few things to note. You MUST buy the precision motor and platter from Souri (he will make you wait a few months and will only sell to you after you've been cutting/buying blancs for a while). You MAY ...

Re: Vinylrecorder and Sapphire / Ruby
Update! I actually heard back from Souri about this and he had me send my cutterhead to him. I now have no issues at all with fit for 320 shank. Cuttin' clean and clear!
In the end, I had no need for an adapter.
Good luck!

Jonathan

Re: Vinyl Recorder - Stylus heating HELP PLEASE!
My experience with the Vinylrecorder is to start with heat off, amp off, drop in, turn heat on at lowest setting, and slowly turn it up, listening to the groove that you're cutting. The silence can only get as quite as it can. I have never turned up the heat passed 30 on my dial when cutting PC (Sou...

Blank Pressed 12" Vinyl Stock For Sale
Not sure if this belongs in Experimenters Forum or Classifieds, but here I am. Guys, I have about 500 12" Blank pressed records that I'm looking to move. Could be great for lathe cut experimentation and fun! I had these records pressed to be cut, and while they do cut and work fine with a diamond, t...

Stainless Steel 13" Precision Platter For Sale!
Stainless Steel 13" Precision Platter For Sale! Not just for cutters, but for playback as well. It's chill! I had this unit fabricated for my SL-1200 to use with my vinyl recorder, was developing an external motor to drive it, but decided to go ahead and purchase Souri's upgrade. Platter is cool and...
