Re: Follow my progress.
a year ago I tried melting some vinyl to press a blank record, just to see if I could do it.
I had a hard time controlling the temp, too hot and vinyl gets bubbly and then dry.
and then I didn't cool it quick enough. so it stuck to my surface.
it emits a lot of gasses too.

Re: Replicas
A thing of beauty.......... Any idea what the finished head mass will be? I basic drawing with the general geometry would be very useful so that potential customers can evaluate if this can be mounted on a specific lathe such as 1) Size & position of mounting screws, 2) Position of stylus from rear...

Re: Replicas
Now sending for testing.
This is how the heads will look.
I think they turned out pretty good for a first try.
Now let's make sure they meet spec.

Re: Replicas
So I'm just about done with all the parts.
here are some pictures of the stylus screw holder and terminal block.
I'm sending one head to be tested this week.
I'll post some results.

Re: turntable bearing
that looks pretty fancy, but what I really want to know are specs.
I doo like the bldc motor though, 900 isn't that bad..
but again , no specs , must contact, these are for playback turntables too...

Re: turntable bearing
I built a magnetic levitation bearing, but it didn't give as good a result as I thought. it would have needed much more work to be good enough.
the air bearing idea is good too, but I don't like the fact that you would have to have an air compressor somewhere making all that noise and vibration.
