Re: turntable bearing

I have seen these before but haven't thought of using them.
.002" tir is too much when you measure 6 inches away

.1 degree of an angle will generate over .01" runout at 6" away

I already tried the taper method, it works...

Re: Torque needed to spin a vinyl cut

Well I bought the motor of course , and I made everything else myself. Pulleys, platter spindle. I did buy a bearing though. .
You can buy pulleys but it might be hard to find the right diameter .

ok I have picked up a few stylus for neuman cutterheads and I don't know in what condition.
what is a good way to tell the condition of the stylus?
when I look at them the tips have a little black spot on them.

Re: Torque needed to spin a vinyl cut

It's just a sync motor so the speed is accurate, and I get the torque from using pulleys . It's the way all the older record players did it .

Re: Torque needed to spin a vinyl cut

I have the same problem with torque on my turntable too.I am working around it by using an ac sync motor. And then using pulleys to control the speed. much cheaper and very reliable .

Re: Replicas

At the moment I am making the electronic connections at the top of the Grampian. It's getting there.

A stereo head is already in the works. I just picked one up at the beginning of the year.
But it's going to be a fair amount of money.
