Another issue is that if you run a motor designed for 60 hz on 50 hz, it will run hotter because of the reduced inductance at 50 hz. I was wondering, how much is that power supply that will put out a different frequency? I am guessing that it must rectify the 50 hz to DC, then invert it back to 60 h...

Yes, there were some early 50's Wurlitzer boxes that played both sides. The turntable was about the size of the record label, and clamped the record between the turntable on the end of the shaft and a similar rotating piece on top, so both sides were available for playback. It had two tonearms, one ...

At first I thought you were joking, but when you say, "Recutting old 78's", do you mean playing them and cutting a new record? Well of course you can do that but your result won't be any better than the original record. Just set up a modern turntable with a magnetic cartridge equipped with the prope...

I hope you got it very cheap. Anytime you see a vintage piece of electronics on ebay where the seller says, unable to test, or whatever, you know that somebody just died and it just got pulled it out of an attic, basement, garage, or barn and its been sitting there for 30 or more years. Such a piece...

Hi, This might seem elementary, but what country are you in? If your cutter originally came from North America or some other country with 60 cycle current, and you are in a country with 50 cycle current, that would be your problem right there. In that case, you will have to get a set of 50 cycle idl...

Rek-O-Kut Imperial II disc recorder

Hello, I am new to this forum, but not new to old phonographs. I just acquired one of these disk cutters because I have always wanted to try cutting my own records. It came with the recording amplifier in a separate case. It looks much newer than some of the other cutters I have seen. I've got a cou...
