Yesterday I had a quick bash at making the voice coils bobbins for the cutters... I managed to make 5 in about an hour... I still require the correct epoxy resign and varnish sealant to do them properly and then wire them up, but so far so good... I also plan to get the bobbin bits die cut "instead...

I'm assuming you'd need to add a 3.5ohm resistor in the circuit to compensate, to protect the amp? If it reads 6 something ohms , the ohms it reads on the meter is not the 8 ohms impedance you are looking at , 6 ohms is about right when the system is running the impedance will be about 8 ohms or ve...

The problem is that a crystal head is far way more impedence matching wise, Therefore the circuit is made for crystal input not magnetic , if you want to use a magnetic input then just run the wires through a pre amp first to change the impedance , one of those little things on ebay called a phono p...

Not sure what you have but some motors have a start winding and some of those use a capacitor , so the start winding and or capacitor could be bad .
