Re: Printer and Plotter for Sleeves

We used an Epson SC-P800 for about 3 years without issues - from time to time we hade to make head cleaning but all in all it paid itself off many times. You can even use cheaper inks with these printers.
If you use it weekly they are great.

Re: Printer and Plotter for Sleeves

Depending on the quantity of Covers you need to make there are some options. For a long time we printed onto fat precut inkjet cardboard sheets 350g/m² then did the Cutting/Embossing by Hand. Labor intensive but works. For this you can use a quite cheap desktop inkjet printer. Other Option: Talk to ...

Re: High Record Demand: Lacquer Availibilty?

We can source enough lacquers from MDC to keep our cutting operation running. And we cut more then ever. They must have expanded their production bigtime.
I don't think lacquer is the bottleneck - there is just not enough pressing plants for the demand right now.

Hoi, this is our solution for the headwiring, at first we also tried it without going through the din connectors but too much problems with tension of the wiring. we also changed the counterweight to a lighter one.

Re: Which 1200/1210?

Yeah we did the resistor mod multiple times now.
No issues on normal cuts - only when the blank is bent we have some wow.
We're in the process of fully converting to SP10s right now to avoid the 1210 problems altogether.

Hey flo,

Thanks for sharing! We'll stick to a SP-10 MK2 for the new studio then. Costs a bit less and is great (if working).

Re: sp10 mk2 combination.

There is an app called wow & flutter meter, it's even exact enough! we tried it on some different smartphones with different gyroscopes - the result was the same, and to see the difference is the main thing. on a turntable with low torque it's importand to put two phones on the opposite of each othe...

Re: sp10 mk2 combination.

Thanks Dubwise. With the SP10 we have about 0,06-0,08% (measured while cutting) that's way better than with the sl1200 we had before (about 0,18-0,20%). In my opinion the sp10mk2 awesome (when it's 100% reliable!). The main problem we have, sometimes our sp10 starts acting very weird, it doesn't kee...

Re: Stepper vs Servo vs Geared DC

I'm also using a steppermotor, right now a NEMA17 with 1.8° Steps. There is also a NEMA17 with 0.9° Steps which would be even better and quieter. I also run a shaft coupling filled with silicone to further lower the vibration caused by the stepper. I also began with an arduino mega but soon found ou...

Re: Convert CDs to Records

We have cut some laserdiscs sucessfully with the VR.
See the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twnXhlISWdI

It works really good - just need more weight to cut and it probably wears the stylus a little more.
We also heat it hotter than pvc!

ride on,

Dr Dub cuts on Laserdisc

Hello mates, We experimented a little bit with laserdiscs in the past few days. Maybe it's interesting for you guys;) We got pretty good results with preheating the discs to 45-50° and using more stylus heating than for vinyl. We used a diamond stylus for it. Does anybody know how durable these lase...
