Re: mistakes and liability
Thanks guys. This is helpful. Owning your mistakes and asking for two step metal is good advice. It does however sound like a client could push the run-out groove issue, and insist on having a new cut in addition to new plates at the cutters expense - technically it's their fault. That seems like a ...

mistakes and liability
If a mistake is made and goes unnoticed until the test pressing, who pays for the re-plating and the test after a new lacquer is cut? (assuming it's the cutting engineer's fault) How do you handle situations where a customer is unhappy, you're to blame, and you must start all over again? As an examp...

Re: complete system wanted
Thank you. Yes, I am giving up on the idea of a Neumann. As long as I can find a solid lathe, and computer I'll be in good shape.

Re: complete system wanted
I normally call what I do mastering. no matter what it's released on. But seeing i'm among the lathe trolls, I can't possibly say vinyl mastering… Even though most my clients call it that when they hire me! I don't care what it's called. I just want a lathe!

Please contact me if you have any leads on a VMS-80, VMS-70, VMS-66 and or LS-76. N. America only please. Cash is waiting. Thank you, Timoth...

Re: what's the weight of a lathe?
Thank you. This is helpful. I'd also like to add that I was in touch with Gus at Sky Onion, who recently installed a Scully system. He estimates the weight of a Scully lathe, fully assembled, somewhere between 750 and 900 pounds.

what's the weight of a lathe?
Have any of you built a floating / isolation platform for your lathe? How heavy is a Neumann and or Scully lathe?
Thanks,
Tim
