Re: Fairchild Model 642 Cutter Head Value?

As unusual as this head is, no one that I know of is cutting with one, and as yours is untested there is no way it is worth $10,000. The head had a very short life because records kept getting louder and Fairchild dropped out of the recording equipment business. The head is useless without the elect...

Re: Dr Dub cuts on Laserdisc

I have only embossed on polycarbonate (CD/DVD blanks) with a very old RCA mono head. What progress I've made seemed to point toward using a standard cutting stylus but in reverse (not cutting but embossing). I haven't really experimented with heat, because that type of cutting stylus has very little...

The Westrex 2B manual indicates four variations of the SP-77232 tapered stylus: detail...

only guessing

I am only guessing that a "real" stereo head would be a challenge to mount and perhaps too heavy for the the M12 - but if you have an M12 I'm interested (he-he). At the moment, I'd be happy to cut mono...

acetate project folder material

A long time ago I discovered the soundscriber dictation machine that I wish I had now. The best I fond to "cut" on (those things emboss) is the acetate used for project folders....

soundscriber

I had a soundscriber dictation machine that I picked up in a st Louis resale shop back in t '75. Wish I still had it. Drove it with a hifi amp using te EQ to approximate an RIAA curve. I still have the discs I "embossed" on it - I found clear acetate - the kind used for project folders - worked the ...
