Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
Only ONE copy was made before the label decided to scrap the vinyl release and instead of extra bonus songs, there are 4 songs that AREN'T on it! Talk about super duper rare! I hope someone else on here is as amoral as me.... Are those the hidden tracks? You rambling on about the mole people would ...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
Teach a man to fish y'know? :D It only teaches me that they put a lot of effort into not being helpful. Searching the entire website for three letters...? And telling me to do so using some fancy website process? Seems like someone really taking the time to not take the time. Almost humorous. Shall...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
"Ok so I understand that Souri's deal is out of the question." It's only out of the question if you are not willing to travel to germany for training or second guess him. So add the cost of travel onto the 3k euros I just checked google flights. It's less than a grand to travel from Boston to Stutt...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
Oh, I'm sorry! €5,000! That changes.... absolutely nothing. If you can get a machine from Souri for $3,000 you should jump all over it. But Based on your exchanges on this thread, I put the over/under on Souri ghosting you at about 2 emails back and forth. So in other words, never attempt something...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
here's the main (unfortunate) points learned by years of experience: souri sells machines selectively....... give a read to the forum and see what other people are doing..... Thanks for the actual helpful response. Everyone else here seems to want to barbecue me for being curious. Ok so I understan...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
You quoted me wrong. I said 5000 euros, not dollars. That's over six grand in u.s. dollars.piaptk wrote:If you "don't have $5,000" for a machine

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
Really? I looked at Sauri's site pretty thoroughly and figured I wouldn't need much more than the Vinylrecorder setup. I might need the vacuum cleaner, a better turntable, the torque motor, and of course lacquer discs. And repairs on the cutterhead now and then, right? What am I up to? 4k euros? If ...

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering
I live in the northern part of NH, where all the poverty is. Right next door is northwest Maine, where houses are cheap also. The VR is just the head... meaning I'd have to supply the turntable right? Would this be a problem? The system offered by Souri is less than $3k if you knock off VAT tax, so....

Re: Looking for a record cutter for lacquer mastering

Hi, I'm looking for a machine that will cut lacquer masters. Does anyone know where I might get one, without flying to Germany? Thanks so much.

What makes record cutting appealing to me is that I've had a personal fascination with records & record grooves ever since I was a kid. I had already visited Flozki's site and found it quite interesting. Don't know exactly what is going on under the two tweeters he's got there on his homemade cutter...

Hey thanks for replying. The membrane on the earbud is a thin, delicate cellophane. I haven't taken many headphones apart... are there those with a vibrating membrane made of stronger stuff? I tried using a xacto blade as the "cutter needle" and putting the earbud directly on it (it's magnetic so it...

basics of cutter heads...?
Hello. New here. Does anyone know the basics more or less for making a low- or no-budget "cutter head"? I tried taking one of the earbuds from a set of earbud headphones, putting it in a conical cake icing tip (making sure the earbud faced down [towards the tip]), putting a screw in the tip hole (se...
