this girl did a experiment using a Epilog to Etch grooves into a playable records. The results sound like crap but you can hear the audio. Really cool experiment:

Wow! That’s a really good deal. i was expecting it to cost a lot more from what people are selling vintage lathes for these days.
I’m hoping it becomes available and not end up being another Phonocut

Re: DinSync NC-V8 acoustic lathe
this looks very interesting.
I wonder if it will be like a Diy type lathe? Where you buy the pcb and components to build it?
i’m curious about the cutting head and if the parts will be easy to source and diy friendly with the repairs?
heres another view of the lathe i saw on the web

I have bought some feedscrews and poly blanks from Mike in the past and his service is good. I would recommend him if you need any lathe cut equipment

Re: Presto overhead hybrid turntable recommendation
the SP10 is really worth the investment.
Rock solid speed and Torque.
You will have to build a mounting device area for the Presto overhead swing area tho.

Re: 320G Diamond Recording Stylus - Made in the USA
Ohh keep us posted to when they will be available.
As for diamonds they work best with PETG plastic. Any other plastic like polycarbonate with destroy it.
Atleast thats what i have experienced with working with diamonds.

Presto 6N feedscrew knife alternative?
i was wondering if there is anything out there that can be used as a alternative to the Presto 6N feedscrew blade? I noticed mine is starting to not engage or catch the grooves of the feedscrew. i gotta lift it up, drop it down and turn the wheel to eventually have it catch the groove. If anyone out...

Also check this blog post by spinnertownblanks about using Numark TT500 turntable on the VR.
If Money is an issue then this turntable looks to be up to par with powering the VR

Re: Your thoughts on Technics SP-12 , SP-15 and SP-20
I have not had the opportunity to try the other Technics SP series. But i do i have a Technics SP-10 MKII as my turntable on my Presto 6N. And i gotta say this turntable is as stable as it can be. Especially with the overhead weight on the platter . The speeds are spot on. The reason why i switched ...

Re: Setting up my Presto 6N for stereo cutting
Here is my current Presto 6N with modified vacuum attachment.
The Vacuum nozzle does not effect the Presto overhead or the movement of the cuttinghead mechanism.
It sucks up the swarf easily in this location and i have no problems.

Re: Setting up my Presto 6N for stereo cutting
your gonna wanna have a vacuum system to suck up all the swarf if your cutting . Other wise you be sitting there with a small brush moving the swarf towards the center to prevent it from balling up on the shank. i use a small cheap shop vac i got a at Walmart and its going through a variable transfo...

Re: Did I blow my TKV Cutting head?
Just wanted to update this thread. i did indeed burnout one channel of the cutting head. I was using a 1 amp fast blow fuse which was way too high for this cutting head. Kostix recommended i use a 500ma fast blow. I sent my cutting head for repair to Kostix and he did an excellent job in repairing i...
