Re: Angulo Records lathes of Argentina....wah huh?
Interesting! So with this chemical you are able to strip away the top layer of a pressed record and then cut it? And you are able to cut it with a Sapphire? On the video the chip looks white or clear - is this a byproduct of the chemical used? I would have though chip from a pressed black record wou...

Try contacting the people here (if you haven't already) http://www.toyokasei.co.jp/en/Contact.html
They will probably know someone in Nihon who can help you I think.

Re: Sale stylus ruby, sapphire $ 15
Does anyone think its possible to somehow make these finer / smaller by sharpening so that they would be suitable
for embossing microgrooves?
If so how would this be done?

Re: Japanese Portable Lathes of the 1970s
That's not actually a lathe in the cutting sense, it records onto a disk magnetically similar to tape - no actual cutting at all and you have to have a special disk that I think can only be played back on this machine or a similar type you can't play the disk on a standard record player using a styl...

Re: Vestax VRX-2000
One user of this very forum reported good things about it. Re: Vestax postby jornibudich » Sun Mar 09, 2014 4:43 am I believe this one is a bit overpriced itself, specially considering is a second hand one. I don't know if is just a matter of luck regarding each Vestax unit or being careful while us...

Re: Groove pictures
Hey Miguel Yes the if the stylus has been chipped that could be causing your problem! If you feel more confident using the machine now, then you could try doing a careful short test cut and seeing if you get better results. This way you will know if it is the stylus that was causing the problem, or ...

Re: Groove pictures
Hey Migel A couple of suggestions! Do you have a different stylus that you can try with? You mentioned in another thread that the stylus that you were using needed cleaning so perhaps this one is dirty / broken and causing the problem? Also I think it is a good idea to have a reference when experime...

Re: Lathe Trolling
its kind of a loaded question. Polycarbonate can be EMBOSSED but not cut. try this thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3289&hilit=leaning+back Acrylic can be CUT with fair results, but the general consensus is polycarb is the way to go. this is NOT VINYL PVC like pressed records. I have the souri machine ...

Re: How to clean a sapphire?
Hello Miguel I checked out the Angulo Records website and saw the R-E-D Serie Pro 2.0 lathe. It looks very impressive! Is this the same as the one you have? It would be great if you could post some information about your lathe, how it performs, what functions it has, what you are cutting etc.. and s...

Re: Polybarbonate - Embossing VS Cutting
Thanks for your reply Mark! That's very interesting. I haven't noticed any high freq difference between cutting and embossing myself, but so far I have only done this using a Vanrock which only has a frequency response up to 8K. And also to emboss I am using a backwards sapphire so not 100 percent s...
