The hiss is because you are most likely using dead needles or using a wrong combination of needles and blanks. The low volume is most likely because your 5c cutterhead has armature rubber that has gotten dried and crusty and is not allowing the armature free movement. And/or the amplifier isnt worki...

I just talked to AtomicDisc (who seems like mostly a CD manufacturer) who also brokers vinyl. They were real shifty when I asked where they had it made, but he said it was in Czech but it WAS NOT GZ. He said that 3 times.

So, I'm curious... is there another plant over there?

Can you post better photos? Some of those are very blurry.

That is interesting, especially if you can get one that works well and has a finer pitch than the original.

Last chance to take this as-is for cheap. Gonna start restoring it in a month.
