FS: Vinyl Recorder T-560

OK, I've said I few times now that it might be for sale and now it is. I'd really prefer it to go to someone who doesn't already have one, so priority will be given to those potential buyers. I'm going to assume you all know what a T-560 looks like and does, so I'll just list the non-standard aspect...

Re: Presto 28N

OK, just confirming that this system is now for sale. It is a complete, working system of two 8N lathes, control panel, amplifier, Van Eps swarf vacuum and lots of spares/accessories. Motors are 115V/50Hz, so ideally suited to UK/Europe power sources. 1kVA step-down transformer included (waay over-s...

SOLD: Presto 28N

For reasons I'd rather not go into on a public forum, I might have to sell my beloved Presto 28N. Emphasis on the might here, as I'd really rather not part with it after spending two years working on it and another two years cutting many thousands of sides! Feel free to make me an offer though, via ...

For Sale: 2x Transco Ruby 462 Long Shank Stylus

You know what they are. I've got two available. New, unused. Bought them after the fire thinking I'd be cutting more lacquers, but it hasn't worked out that way. PM me with offers please. In UK but will ship.

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor

Thanks handcut! Due to language barrier Im not sure I understand where this exactly fits. Is it right next to the black wheel and you see it after the wheel is removed? Thanks, Bob Hi Bob, No, there's a brass cylinder that couples the motor to the axle inside the feedscrew. The clutch is inside the...

Re: Tips on how to get a louder cut?

I'm cutting lacquers on a Neumann lathe. Don't take this the wrong way, but how does one get to the point of cutting on a Neumann without knowing this? How loud are you cutting and much louder do you want to go? What kind of programme material? +1 on the limiting thing. Biggest p.i.t.a. for me is b...

Re: New Dynamic Stereo Head for Sale

I'm wondering how much the cutting area of the disc is affected by the width of the head on a Presto 8N..?

Really? Nobody has anything to add to this? I'm not the only person who feels this way/has experienced this. Just this morning a regular customer of mine asked "do you know any pressing plants that aren't sending warped-to-as-all-hell records out?"

Re: frizzy curly swarf - more weight

Are you using any anti-static treatment? It could be humidity-related also. Not too sure about London, but up here we've just gone from a heatwave to unseasonably cool - high humidity to low - so more static. Do you have a microscope? Rather than relying on weight are you able to measure the width/d...

i remember awhile back seeing Flo modify a presto to make it belt drive. he also installed a amp inside of it as well. i cant seem to find the pictures or page where he had pictures of it . Ah ha! Re: Presto 6N/8N belt-drive conversion

Hi Markrob, Thanks for this info. After some further discussion with the engineer, they've recommended the integrated system below, which is fully tunable. They've also said that oscillation can be avoided by keeping the inertia ratio below 20 if I reduce the small pulley. It's definitely not a chea...

Presto 6N/8N belt-drive conversion

I'm currently weighing-up options for moving away from the idler-rim drive, for various reasons. Conversion to direct drive seems to be prohibitively expensive and would mean modifying the lathes in ways I'd rather not, so I'm looking a belt drive setup with a BLDC motor driving a belt around the pl...
