when i worked in pro audio we would always power up the preamp devices like mixers,processing and anything directly connected to instruments first(with all gains down) then power up the amplifiers connected to the speakers(drivers) then bring up the gain on the signal and to power down we do the rev...

got my motor today its a 1rpm
i timed the movement at at 33rpm i get roughly 4min20seconds on a cdr
i think this will work out well
i should have my drivers for my cutterhead end of this week or beginning of next

hi all
i am building a diy lathe and my general question is what is a good general cutterhead stylus pressure?
im using steel needles and im not heating up my needle only the discs(after waxing)
so what is a general weight to push into the disc or what should the cutterhead weigh?

i ended up taking one driver off the frame as it was too heavy
this is the result of the mono head
great gain and not too bad clarity
sounds even better in my headphones than these basic computer speakers

so got myself a huge sony integrated amp (120 watts per channel x4)
and a traynor pa head 75 watts
between these two i should be able to power any cutter head i encounter
im going to buy some dayton exciters to make a proper cutter as well
i have figured out the linear movement of my lath
