Hi Mike,
it seems your pressing plant list is a little bit outdated...

Re: Dealing with piano distortion on inner grooves

OK, more explanation about angles and radii. Imagine 1kHz sinus signal cut at 33 rpm using +2dB level (peak NTP, in phase) on 100mm diameter. See the attached picture of a groove created by DMM cutting using a standard diamond stylus. The picture shows the ideal groove - how it should look like when...

Re: Dealing with piano distortion on inner grooves

Yes, of course. There are two layers of information - the first (background) layer consists of dark green profiles, the second (foreground) layer is on top of the dark green ones. The first two dark green tracks in both simulations are left and right channels (levels in dB seen as square root profil...

Re: Dealing with piano distortion on inner grooves

It is not 100% comparable due to different diameters of the same audio at 45/33 and also much faster worsening of radii in grooves (curvatures depending on accelerations) compared to angles (depending on velocities). But when the land is increased at 33 rpm to reach the same space consumption, it sh...

Re: Dealing with piano distortion on inner grooves

45 rpm is better in any case for a common audio track, see the attached picture with my analysis of 4:30 long audio - 1) ending at 64% for 33 rpm and 2) ending at 100% for 45 rpm - it still has better parameters on any part of the audio for both the cutting (angles) and playback (angles + radii)

Re: New Pressing plants

Big plans of GZ Vinyl in the US and Asia; Czech company GZ Media has announced ambitious plans to open new pressing plants in North America and Asia. In an effort to tap the booming North American market, GZ will start by opening new plant Precision Record Pressing in Canada this August. Located cl...

Re: Frequency Response: Lacquer v Pressing

Hello guys, the abovementioned graphs were probably created on the grounds of experimental measurements of various records. The science is a little bit different. There is no doubt that the material itself affects playback and there can be some difference between a lacquer, nickel mothers (first, se...

Re: New lasercut ''High Definition Vinyl''

Steve Hoffman Music Forums: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/ But don't expect many profi opinions there - mostly audiophiles, vinyl record lovers, record buyers and collectors and some analog-only trolls (not lathe trolls). It is a waste of time unless you are looking for something particular. The top...

Re: New lasercut ''High Definition Vinyl''

As I wrote on SH forum: "The main problem is the groove geometry itself. Even the best laser cutting system cannot change the groove geometry unless it pre-distort the audio signal for a proper playback using one particular stylus shape. There are many various shapes of playback styli and therefore ...

Re: Suppliers of Lacquer/DMM disks

We bought a batch of "long life" copper blanks for DMM cutting from MMP several years ago: MMP Master Media Production GmbH www.master-media.net/ Results of our tests were very good - it was possible to cut to their copper blanks even after several months. But I have no information whether they stil...

Hello, I'm sure that the mentioned convention was this one: http://gottagrooverecords.com/what-is-generation-wax/ http://gottagrooverecords.com/2015/11/generation-wax/ Probably as a result of that convention, some of our clients received information from their cutting engineers being there as guests...

Re: GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic

Nah none at all, just like GZ, neither of us have a clue Best What is the noise spec I am going for when I adjust the heat per lacquer? How do I measure to make sure I meet the spec? We use Neumann RUMS 77 (with the A curve added as an external filter) and Sennheiser UPM 550-1 units for noise measu...

Re: GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic

I have never gotten request of 10 seconds of unmodulated groove at the beginning of a side for noise measurements. How would this work on your end? Would you play the unmodulated test groove on the lacquer before plating and measure noise? Then compare the mother playback to that? It seems to me th...

Re: GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic

Any cutters here had an 'experience' when sending lacquers for processing to GZ? Hi Phinster, don't worry and send your 'experience' and critique. I don't bit (usually). Yes, there were and sometimes still are problems with extremely high sensitivity of records for touching by hands even with glove...

Re: DMM 33 mastering for 45 playback

1. There's not a way to slow down the digital output at a lower pitch and slower speed to master at 33 for 45 playback - mastering is real-time only. 2. Same thing with taking down the RIAA curve to match, hence no ability to do 33 mastering for 45 playback according to the engineers there. I repea...

Just a small advertisment for our new web-page http://www.gzvinyl.com :) The web has not been polished yet - not all pictures are final versions, a lot of Glossary is missing etc... but we will complete and polish the web in next few weeks. Any comments, criticism, praise, suggestions are welcomed (...
