Re: Mystery cutting head
Hmm, I'm pretty sure it is neither an Ortofon nor Neumann. Ortofon never made cutters with screw tightening system for styli, and without feedback (needs more connectors) unless it is an unknown historical one of a kind prototype from 1920...unlikely Neumann R12a and R12b or the rebranded Telefunken...

Re: Absolute Polarity
Hey Jiri! Don't know the exact spot now 9 years after I posted this, but I think it was in some old document when styli moved lateral only. Had a look now at quite a bunch of neumann documents and didn't find again. Also no time to read sentence by sentence... But I found the same information by ort...

I don't think the original tube is any helpful when cutting plastic... (at least never was to me)

I had the same concern coming up my mind, and I guess this is what the claimed "feedback" should be... nice machining work though

Re: I am looking for a diamond cutting stylus holder for Ort
That will not work! The Ortofon Stylus is smaller than the Neumann, so it will be impossible to use a Neumann without modding the head…! Also the Stereo channel seperation is relying heavily on the Stylus Geometrie etc. Best is to source original shank Adapters (These were made in the past), or use ...

Hmm, can it be that you do not have stock Scully, but rather a modified version with DC Tacho Motor and Belt drive?? Maybe ask the guy who made it?

Re: AES Journal: Motional Feedback Disk Recording System Des
Hey, congratulations to your publication in AES!
I'm sure you're very proud of it!
Maybe also a reason for me to join the AES (or maybe ask for a free copy of that paper here )
But honestly, all of the theory was already made (and patented) in the 1920s...so 100years late
Cheers

Re: cutting two grooves on one disc
The easiest is to do it on a mechanical lathe where TT and Feedscrew are locked by gears… Otherwise use a coarse pitch Setting and some luck to drop the needle in the Right spot… hey, who cares About ruining some master blanks ;-) If both tracks are axactly the same length add some seconds to one tr...

Re: Vanrock Stylus Oops!
Hmm, on the Picture it Looks like the Stylus is bent sideways (not in cutting direction, nor in the direction the set screw acts...) - can it be that the Stylus is crashing the platter when moving in? Like, is the head already down (in cutting position) before the machine is in the right position (s...
