Re: Fully equipped 2-in-1 Record cutting Transcription Desk
Yes these things happen, sad to say, I do feel for you though given the work and effort you put into it. Just took look at the link if that fire sale is still on I will take the 523/6N at $1 each and the Grampian/Fairchild heads at 50 cents each, deal  Looks interesting I am going off for a no...

Re: Fully equipped 2-in-1 Record cutting Transcription Desk

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
Thanks a lot Steve, I've been following Todd's progress from the time I joined this forum, I lost track a little bit in the middle... but always been supportive of people wanting to get out of the pond and be creative against all odds. Challenges brings perseverance... I was just hoping that Todd w...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
Hey Todd, By end of the line, do you mean you won't be posting here anymore?? By the way, what kind of stylus will be required for your cutterhead? Will my Souri's stylus fit? The information is in the 25 pages of threads, the stylus is a standard Neumann taper, all information is here. End of the ...

Re: 1956 A-R-Sugden Connoisseur RecordLathe *drool*
It doesn't make much sense, yet maybe their belief is that the documents are what brings up the price & nobody gets them, less they pay the full asking price. I could imagine someone thinking in those terms. Yet that's not to say it makes any sense. though how many human actions do? I once asked a ...

Re: 1956 A-R-Sugden Connoisseur RecordLathe *drool*
I guess what is new from the first listing is the addition ov so disks... but oh geese that price jump is insane... The disks were sold with the listing when it went for £1380, now it is re-listed admittedly it looks like it has had run over with a feather duster as to if it is the same seller with...

This one looks even cleaner & with disks etc. hmmm... It's the same machine that went for £1300 compare the listings, it is the same pictures it is the same script, it is the same serial number cutting lathe No 15. I suspect it is the same seller not the buyer, as I suspect it remained unpaid or th...

Re: 1956 A-R-Sugden Connoisseur RecordLathe *drool*
Yes, I read just about all your posts on the subject because I was interested. I did bid, but a fair bit less, partly because of the absence of the amp, and partly because it seemed a bit of a gamble what with me being new to this game... Someone will be very happy. I'd like to think they may turn ...

Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk Yes an absolute steal I got almost two Sugden lathes for that much, yes I was lucky by the looks of it or not depending on how you want to look at it. Prices o...

...browsing the internet I stumbled over this: A record cutting lathe built by Swiss/French motorcycle company "Motosacoche". I'm very curious about this machine, due to it looks very solid. Now I wonder if anyone here ever heard, or even better used this device: http://www.the-saleroom.com/de-de/a...

Re: Metro NYC Presto 6N table, 161a cutting lathe, plus more
Taking a look at my Grampian Gotham literature and schematics, it looks like this amplifier is from before January 10, 1955. After July 10, 1957 they no longer had the time delay tube and used the 6AU4 rectifiers in the power supply section as well as removed the T3 transformer. Not sure what the t...

Now the way they have that Presto compressor set up, I for one, like very much! Easy service in a busy cutting room with that kind of layout!! :D Yes I thought it was a good set up but missed the Presto front panel, I have just had a look through the Alan Graves website there is a Presto 6N in a ca...

Re: Metro NYC Presto 6N table, 161a cutting lathe, plus more
It looks to me that whoever purchased the Presto equipment originally got a full set up from Presto including the new format of tape, that is an early Presto tape recorder that bears more than a passing resemblance to the Ampex 200 and the EMI BTR1. I would suggest that the original Presto set up wa...

Time to drool some more it is up again listed on eBay at a lower price but honestly still not realistic. 182034310121 Having looked at his other auction he may be more than just a clueless chancer as he states the item was made in 1931. Hmm I have a Capps case unfortunately it is not empty it has a Neumann SX68/74 cutting stylus in it with silver plated heater wires. Brand new as far as I know never used. It is OK no intention of selling it but assume it is worth no more than a modern Transco equivalent? I even have an adaptor for ...

Re: Digital Delay for VMS70 - Gauging Interest
This may sound really, really well ... crazy .. but why would one convert an analog signal to digital only to cut it back onto an analog medium? If it comes out of a DAW - well, that's one thing. But if it comes from tape - well, it's just not analog anymore once you feed it through a digital delay...
