Re: pvc blank shelf life

To be sure, try a new one like Sue recommend, always worth a try. Does your playback tonearm skip/jump with older cutted records, and tried another turntable with both records? In case it does, check your your tonearm playback setup/calibration once more. Image how much scratching you can do before ...

Re: New cutter problem with VR :(

Yeah well, after digging through the net and looking a bit closer... If a long time user like Duophonic, who cutted thousands of vinyls, it should be right to focus at the angle and forget the head, even it looks strange. Thx for the video, it helped to clear out my last ambiguities. ;) I guess Rena...

Re: New cutter problem with VR :(

In case you have a iphone, theres a usefull app called "AngleMeter". Very good for controlling, also doing screenshots. Same here, if i set the recomended 8-10° the cuttinghead isnt parallel either, the front is way up. If its paralell, the diamond has around 20° and has not much clearance angle at ...

Re: very strange problem

Re: very strange problem

Re: FAO Experienced cutters based in the UK????

Sadly im in germany too, i would help, just to find the problem and a solution, because i never had any. :/

You got it first hand of souri, why not ask him for another training session?

I wouldnt give up that fast, i guess the problem is minor, the vr is pretty plug and play.

Cheers

Re: How far towards the center of a 7" should I cut?

In gerneral i help(ed) myself pulling out some good sounding records, looking how the pros did it.. Measured (also the grooves depth and distance) and trie(d) to cut the same way. Of course its not possible to do a neumann high end professional cut with a vr.. but impressive results can be definitly...

Re: T560 - What's your method to align a new VR diamond?

Good question which i asked me a lot of times too, because this one is very importand for a good cutting result. Also even the diamond is aligned properly under the microscope, doesnt mean that it will be good after the cutting head is installed. The swingarm can be crooked or bend and you dont have...

Re: Rietschle VTE-8 Vacuum Pump

Forgot one word: "Also". I meant the vte system seem to be the best out of the box solution with a vr. Works for all users i know, including me with a vt3. Also a good alternative is a aquarium pump, like a wisa 1000 (which were installed in old neumann lathes) or modern yasunaga hp pumps with a lot...

Re: Rietschle VTE-8

Its simply the best solution.... You can modify aquarium pumps, thats silent too but you need some technical skills. No accusation, but I think if a latheuser is not able to hook up a vaccum pump properly, he should not doing this as business/hobby. Imagine if real challenges or problems occur = los...

Well like a pro cutter said once: We dont know everything at all either, were just patient, try a lot and cut cut cut.... Compared to them, have no clue about cutting records at all :D, but my comon sense say: Ben is right, also be sure that the diamond is aligned properly if the cutting head is ins...
