Re: Cutting and artistic rights

Yeah I got a cease and desist from a lawyer representing a US band. A client of mine ordered single copies for personal use of a few live recordings, which seemed unintended for official release by the band. I made the records, the client shared on instagram and boom I had a very serious cease and ...

Re: Which digital microscope do you use for cutting?

I've already got a microscope that you can see the grooves by looking down an eye piece but looking at getting a microscope camera hooked up to a monitor to make it more convenient. I've been looking at getting one of these (link below) as I've seen most of the big cutting studios have them on thei...

Here you check Sillitoe lathe: https://www.sillitoeaudiotechnology.com/
I think its on pre-order phase but keep in mind that they aim to provide PRO system so price will be much more than VR.

I'm using SP-15 and cutting loud and punchy hip-hop, so this one also works and cheaper than SP 10 MK2

Re: T560, Presto, Vortex...any suggestions?

soeffingodly, I don't want to emboss for the same reason - scratch.
Regarding VR, I'm running mine with Technics SP 15, which is twice cheaper than SP 10 MK2 and works fine.

Re: VR: Heat Affecting Dashpot?

A bit late to the party here.... but I'm currently building an oil/spring dashpot, and working on a suspension design. But am interested to know.. when pulling the head lever down, does the lever just add a small amount of weight causing the head to drop ? or is there some sort of mechanism going o...

Re: T560, Presto, Vortex...any suggestions?

To be honest I don't know because I never used any of them but Presto drive its platter using a rubber pulley which produces some rumble. I think you will need to convert to direct drive for the platter. Second is the cutting head. There are some guys here making stereo heads and a couple of other p...

Re: T560, Presto, Vortex...any suggestions?

Vortex is SCAM, so be careful there. If you want better sound then go with VR but in most of the cases you can not just buy it like anything on the net then you are left with other vintage machines. You can with the vintage machines and with some mods you can have stable platter but you will be limi...

Re: T560 Motor/Locking nut issue ?

Yes, it is threaded for a tube-like thread (dont know the correct term, it has nothing in the middle) but there is also another silver looking nut tied to the black wheel. Inside this thread is another tiny piece of threaded metal that is connected to the motor. The little nut ties the motor thread ...

I really love that you wrote software for full control! I'm working on the same thing for my lathe. Track space is essential! Congrats!
