I didn't realise Palsun was from Israel, it's the same brand Peter King used, and I thought it was a rebranded local sheet.
I'm excited to follow your progress!

Cave Parfume + Lathe Cut
This is a little late, but I did this for a local NZ fashion label.

You could try covering the x-ray with a kapco book covering.. It should be able to be embossed.

Re: 3d printable simple open source mono cutterhead
The Presto 1D design is quite tricky - there is quite a lot of tension in the design with the springs holding the armature, which can cause material to flex. I ended up beefing up my aluminum back plate, because I noticed it was deforming. In hindsight it may have been a variety of other causes. If ...

Re: Rails & stepper motors
My first carriage was 3d printed - it had some crazy resonances, you would get 1/2 through embossing a 12" record and the carriage would start bumping up and down...I ended up printing it as a shell and then packing that was epoxy granite, it stopped it bumping around, but the heat from curing meant...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
Just checking in... I've made a few adjustments to the pole pieces and armature, this seems to have improved things. I've done the final order (which is the order after the last order which I said was final) to the laser cutter. I was having issues with the threaded dampener holder being soldered to...

Coloured PC/Embossing Stylus/Cardboard Sleeves/Outer Sleeves
Hey, I recently imported a bunch of coloured polycarbonate and sleeves etc. I've set up this webstore. https://johnnyelectric.fwscart.com/ Theres 5 varieties of Polycarbonate; Green, Blue, Grey, Brown and Clear. Satin/Semi-Gloss Labels Packs of embossing stylus I'll throw in a free stylus for any or...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
the heads being way way way too low impedance.. Are the coils wired in series or parallel? If parallel then try to do series and you should be right at 4 Ohms DC resistance which should be a little nicer to the amp... Thank you for the kind words! I have tried this with .2mm coils, the results were...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
Given the relatively low impedance of this wind, I'm wondering if you should try filling the bobbin with a higher gauge (one or two numbers maybe) wire and see where you stand. The current coil are wired in 0.25mm, which seems to have the best results so far. I have experimented (Pre-DATS? B.D?) wi...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
The DATS V3 arrived today - 10 minutes into using it and it seems like it's worth the cost. VERY easy to use. I've been struggling with some serious hum from the amp, and this points to the heads being way way way too low impedance..The thing is, they do sound great. I've been trying different wire ...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
I'm running into slight problems getting the cases on - they look great, but on the 5 sets of aluminium parts I've had made up, things are just a little too snug... My choice of hex socket screws have also taken up a lot of space, so I will be ordering more. The really stressful part is the damper c...

I'm using the method described here; https://assets.testequity.com/te1/Documents/pdf/applications/oscilloscope-measure-impedence-capacitance-guide.pdf Impedance = V2 / (V1-V2) * R I don' think this takes into account phase shift. ---- I have ordered a DATS V3 analyser - Shipping was $80USD from Part...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
Thanks for the heads up on that - I'm hesitant to spend more money because a lots been going out lately! Re: JE-1D Version 356
Thanks Mark, that makes a lot of sense. I think it was close to what I was thinking. I've set up an oscilloscope to calculate impedance. It might be overkill, but since I will be selling these cutting heads, I would prefer not to kill someone's amplifier and be able to give a accurate reading. I'm t...

I've been meaning to start making them for awhile, but I've pretty much got a microscope over the lathe and a go-pro on an arm...I'll cut the footage together and try to give some sort of explaination. All my cases arrived today, so I should have 'finished' pictures soon - I'm still trying to find a...

What was the thickness of the Prestoflex® block? I have been experimenting with 2-5mm thickness. Isolating the mass of the damper definitely seems to make a difference to output. I've finally overcome one of the biggest obstacles...Previously I was attaching the M4 thread to the armature with a VERY...

I don't heat my blanks either - never really saw any sense in it...Polycarbonate does seem to have a thermal memory - I've been running a few EQ tests and saving on blanks by blasting a embossed blank with a gas torch - the grooves pop right out and you're left with a smooth (fairly warped, and nois...

Re: The farmer and his plow - When I set out to build a record cutter
I have used those large surface transducers before - they worked surprisingly well...my theory was that I could to offset the extra mass of the drivers by dampening and stiffening the construction, I did this by mounting them on the top side of the aluminum angle, they were then coated in a thin lay...

Re: JE-1D Version 356
Hey sorry! I keep typing out replies and forgetting to hit reply! Rather than penetration, I'm wondering if it's that the outer grooves are 'throwing' the playback stylus out of the groove with the increased distance they are travelling. I've been playing with embossing angles a little more, and I'm...
