Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

Thanks Montalbano that helps a great deal. Lacquers are expensive and from what I have read so far not so easy to come by. Lexan however and the Vinylium system suits me better, not to mention my pocket. If I was to go the route of Neumann then for it to pay for itself I would need to be in the posi...

Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

Well that is why I asked the question, I do not know all the information. Reliability is a big issue, but then again those Neumann machines were designed to work 24/7/52. So they would need to be rugged. I have very little information on the Neumann cutting lathes, where would I find out more inform...

Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

Agreed you probably could, there is little to go wrong with any of the older cutting lathes, there is a shortage of spare parts or at least at a reasonable price. However shipping of a Neumann or Ortofon cutting lathe to the UK would be prohibitive to say the least. Less to go wrong with a Vinylium ...

Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

As far as I know the SP10 is 12" platter at most, if you are going the 16" route you need a Rek o kut or Presto turntable. Hope that helps......I think for now I will settle for the Vinylium Dubcutter system with SL1200 turntable, until I get the experience with cutting lacquers.

Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

I was looking to use the SC-99 with VC200 but with for example Gates CB77 which is a 16" platter. Should have enough torque for using as a cutting lathe. So you get more wow & flutter from start to end of disc when cutting? Your right it is complicated. Unless of course I can get a hold of one of th...

Vinylium - what do you get for your money?

Hi Guys I've always been interested in tube gear, including reel to reel tape recorders and then of course there has been record cutting lathes as well. I have my eye on a copy of the Oliver Read book on sound and recording. But what I really wished to know (given the few options we have here) is ab...
