Re: Wednesday June 24... Lathe Trolls 15 year anniversary!

Thanks for the unexpected contributions that came in this week, and thanks to Mike "piaptk" Dixon for organizing and encouraging said contributions! When I started this chat forum in 2005, on a long-gone free, no-frills forum-site located in India, I had little vision for it beyond getting my own te...

Wednesday June 24... Lathe Trolls 15 year anniversary!

Dear all, Nothing profound to say here.... It just occurred to me that Wednesday, June 24th, will be this chat forum's 15-year anniversary! I'm absent-minded and preoccupied enough that I'm mentioning it now, in case I've forgotten by Wednesday. It's an honor to have shared these years with all of y...

Re: Who was "MKC"?

there was a post by "emorritt" in this thread that wasn't really by emorritt. He contacted me, and I'm zapping it. Weird stuff! Let's all be on the lookout for that phenomenon....

Re: Hi there, newcomer with a question

I just caught wind of this thread. It might be helpful for some to understand that he is referring to Vertical Tracking Angle here.

I am unaware that VTA would vary from one record to another.....?

February 2020 Site Updates and News

Dear Lathe Trolls, I have been working hard to upgrade the site. Over the past few months, it has been almost a full-time job. You've probably noticed the changes, but I would like to record the major ones here: • Significantly: After weeks of trial-and-error testing, the chat forum has been moved t...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter

I chatted with Flo briefly a couple weeks ago, and I'd have no reason to think from that conversation that the project is off. They are probably very busy.

I'm not an insider though, so don't quote me on that.

Wasn't NAMM last month? didn't they appear?

Re: The 2019 "May C. Hyers & Hattie Nevada" Fundraiser

The Our Sponsors page has been updated, as of the beginning of February. A few more contributions have trickled in, and will be added. If I programmed this correctly, all current non-mod sponsors are in a nice dark purple font when they post on the site, and most past sponsors are recognized in a pl...

Please update your avatars to onsite

Hey all! As a security measure, we can no longer allow links to avatars from offsite. The graphic that represents your identity must be uploaded to this site, not just linked. I have uploaded some cute topic-appropriate default avatars, so if you do not upload your own, you'll still have a little gr...

Disabling downloads and photos unless logged in

Hi All. I am sure this will be inconvenient for some. But right now I am disabling downloads for people who are not logged in. We are getting absolutely nailed by bots, and for whatever ominous reason they are downloading the biggest files here over and over again. I'm looking into firewall solution...
