Re: Digital Delay for VMS70 - Gauging Interest
I don't know, this is starting to seem like a nice item to have that may not become reality again. Like trying to find a new preview tape deck with 1/4" or 1/2" interchangeable head stacks. As interested as I am in this, since I'm still cutting from an analog console and working OTB, I'm afraid mos...

Re: Digital Delay for VMS70 - Gauging Interest
How does the box accomplish the delay if it is not converting the signal to digital?
Just curious.

Re: Digital Delay for VMS70 - Gauging Interest
Why not just set the delay up in your DAW? It takes almost no time and eliminates a piece of gear. I have clients who demand 192k on a regular basis. Whether you hear the difference or not, I am not going to tell them no. Also, this set was cut at 192k and it sounds pretty amazing. https://www.disco...

Re: Suppliers of Lacquer/DMM disks
Apollo and MDC are the only two I know of in America. MDC is a pain in the ass for the quantities I need to purchase but I heard they were supposed to expand their US presence. What are you trying to do where you feel like the prices are extreme. If you have a business, part of your business plan sh...

Re: SWAP: 60hz Lyrec Motor SM8/3A for 50hz Lyrec Motor
This is a very interesting thread. Recently, we have had some issues with highly out of phase info sounding as if the pitch is "wavering" slightly. The recording were either piano or vibraphone. Todd, what is the method you described for checking stability? I am interested in learning more about thi...

Re: GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic
I heard Van Gogh sent an ear in!
I don't see much need for the extra groove on the out side. I usually do a short drop on the outside to check my chip pick up, but I don't rely on it for anything substantial.

Re: SWAP: 60hz Lyrec Motor SM8/3A for 50hz Lyrec Motor
I sold a 50hz motor a few years ago to a fellow lathe owner in Lansing, Michigan, USA. He might still be sitting on it.
Just get the right motor for your machine and be done with it! That was the easiest route for me.

Re: GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic
We adjust heat every time we put a new stylus on. We run heat at .4 .45.5 .55. .6 and listen back for the lowest noise floor. This method has yielded good results and we have never had a complaint about noise. Checking groove depth on the outside of a 14" lacquer does not work so well for me, the ou...

Re: New fake Neumann SX74 on ebay (US)
I got a response from the seller: Dear concretecowboy71, I only know what I was told in the sale. Sorry. I hear some manner of doubt and will stand by it if a buyer follows the specs of an acceptable operational environment that's professional and not experimental. If you plug it into equipment with...

What a deal! My order is already on its way. No hassles with the discount and they let me use it on a pretty sizable order so this offer has way more value than what you pay up front. I use a lot of lacquers, so this was a nice windfall!

Is this ebay now?
If you are selling something, how about coming up with a fair price and listing it under the classified section?

Scully or Presto seem to be the only other two that you can make some thing that can be plated with.

Re: Advice needed for a VMS70
To get a system running as a professional, i would expect you are going to spend upwards of 15000 USD. Unless you can do the work yourself. If it has been sitting, i would think every capacitor needs updating/changed. The entire mechanical part will need to be pulled apart, cleaned, bearings replace...

The bigger question is...who wants to live in Kansas to master records!?
Maybe because I lean opposite of KS politics...but that is one place other than Texas I would not want to live in!

Re: Quick question for the mastering pros
I never argue that question.
I see pro and cons for all sides of music reproduction.
To me vinyl is more fun and is easier to interact with. I like sharing albums with my friends and looking at album art.
To me, it is pointless to ask what is "better" that is subjective. I just know what I like!
