Re: "Brother Singer" Cutterhead

Hi, Soulbear, I can't understand why you are upset, either. I had only ask others if your calculation is right. I appreciate that you gave me these numbers. I really do. I'm just trying to have opinions from other people here. No offence. The word "insist" is wrong about Todd's circuit breaker (sorr...

Re: "Brother Singer" Cutterhead

Hi, CountMoogie, the drivers that I'm using are dayton audio bct2-45. Mark, 1: I will try to add some corrective EQ, when I will be able to emboss with more power in my drivers. There is no reason to try it now, because the signal in the previous test cut, is very very low. 2. I don't know what the ...

Re: "Brother Singer" Cutterhead

Hi, My cutterhead was too heavy for the embossing in polycarbonate. So, I build a counterbalance like this one that you can see in the picture. The idea for the counterbalance is taken from EpicenterBryan, with a Γ shaped pulley mechanism, with a guitar string at the pulleys and about 150grams count...

Re: Saphirre mixed bag- trades/ offers

Hi,

Looks interesting. Can you tell us more about them?

Are all made by sapphire ? How much wide, they are? Can you measure them ?

Also, what about selling them ?

Re: "Brother Singer" Cutterhead

Hi again, Thanks for you information Mark. I know that I need much power to achieve high frequency acceleration of the stylus. What do you mean saying that I will smoke my head if I run through it, a few watts on a constant basis? What does this "constant basis" means? Do you suggest me to start wit...

"Brother Singer" Cutterhead

Hi again trolls, Well, after many efforts, I've just finish this cutterhead, that I call it "Brother Singer". brother singer.jpg The body is printed by PLA plastic, designed in a simple 3D application. The V spring and the torque tube is made also with PLA. The V spring is 1mm thick and the torque t...

Wholesale Distribution

Hi, I have graduated from Music Technology & Acoustics University in Greece and I’m 33 years old. I’m a music lover and vinyl enthusiast for many years. As you can see from my other posts, I have done some experiments, to emboss audio in polycarbonate plastic, but I'm still at an early stage. :) But...

Re: Soul Sculptor

Hi there SoulBear, Absolutely great design and many thanks for the info. I did not understand exactly for what reason you choose acrylic for the "stylus holder". Does it have big mass ? Also, I didn't understand where exactly the "titanium rod" is attached. Is it inside the cones just for easy coupl...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi there, Well, while I was looking for my next driver, I found this one ( https://abra-electronics.com/electromechanical/audible-devices/speakers/spk-trans-l-surface-transducer-large-spk-trans-l.html ) and this one : http://www.daytonaudio.com/index.php/loudspeaker-components/loudspeaker-drivers-by...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi again grooveguy, Well, I know that this driver works against its mass. That's why I glue it (with silicone), in a piece of plastic that is holded in the main carriage of my tonearm. Silicone is hard enough to hold it in place. Also, as you can see in pics, there is a piece of foam between the pla...

Re: My home made lathe

Thanks for the reply and the advices grooveguy. After long reading of building DIY cutterheads, I realise that I need to built a new cutterhead, according to your sketch. I decide to use some plastic couplings from the centre of the frame of my visaton driver and maybe a brass torque tube to hold th...

Re: My home made lathe

I forgot to mention that in the "tones part" in my uploaded last mp3, there is too much harmonic distortion, mostly in 440Hz (A4) and above...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi, Thank you for reply grooveguy. The truth is that your reply, really confuse me. In my driver the movement is lateral. (or maybe i'm wrong?) The visaton driver is moving back and forth and the stylus is glued to the mounting plate. It's like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm7fD59zPa4 v...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi, So, I set up my previous driver, the visaton 45s - 8ohm. The stylus is glued to the driver with silicone in an angle of 25degrees approximately. I use Ronsonol lighter fluid to soften the plastic and the temperature of cut is about 35degrees Celcius. After a lot of tries, I can't make it work :?...

Re: My home made lathe

Thanks for your kind words kabuye, Well, I change the visaton exciter 45s because I was thinking that there in not enough power from my driver. But I will set it up again, to push it for better results. As I understand there is no reason for more power in watts to have better acceleration of the sty...

Re: My home made lathe

Thank you markrob and grooveguy! Yes, your reply really helps me. But as I understand, I NEED to built another head with different driver and amplifier... :? Maybe the dayton audio driver is a bad choice for a driver... Or I need to have a bigger amplifier (100-400W) for my head and get a fus...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi there again, Well, I reconstruct my tonearm and cutterhead, but I'm deeply disapointed from my new version. :( My purpose was to make a more rigid tonearm and a heavier cutterhead, to achieve a louder signal and a better frequency response (especially in high frequencies). With the help of a 3dpr...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi, Well, I'm terribly sorry for my mistake. I had assume that visaton exciter is piezo driver. But that's better news for me, because as Mark said, now I can use the classic inverse RIAA EQ. So, I make a cut with the procedure of Mark and I believe that I have better results concerning high frequen...

Re: My home made lathe

Hi, Yes, it's a piezo driver. (http://www.visaton.com/en/industrie/koerperschall/ex45s_8.html) Sorry about the pics. It's the best I can do. It's only this piezo driver with the needle, glue on it with silicone, in angle of 22-25 degrees approximately. I told you that is extremely simple. I r...
