I bit the bullet and ordered the mofi.com pressing of Beck's Sea Change since I love that album. This record sounds like crap. there is just low and low mids. the records are so flat. $40 for 180gram vinyl that arrived a tad warped...bad bad and overhyped I was gonna get that one too but the origin...

I cut but I didn't do any of these records. So you were comparing the vinyl to the CD versions at matched levels, right? No comparing, just flat out listening thats all. I don't buy CDs that often, only when the release isn't made on vinyl or the record is so horrible sounding I have no other choic...

RPM / LPI = Distance_minute

For example, if you you run 45 rpm, then there will be 45 revolutions of the platter in one minute. If the lead screw pitch is 45 LPI, then you just moved 1 inch in one minute.

Polycarbonate blanks update

Hey trolls Just a heads up, my supplier is now basically making me order a certain amount of blanks at a time so I will not be offering blanks for anyone anymore unless someone wants a large quantity, i.e. a sheet at a time which breaks down to about 42 7"s, 48 10"s or 28 12"s of any one color. Any ...

I told him in order for me to release his records he needed to prove proof of ownership of the recordings. He is refusing to do so, so I will keep them until that happens.

Thanks for the incite guys, really appreciate it

The job was 30 copies of two different lps. Each one being a little over 40 minutes a piece so 60 records total. A copyright form is a great idea. I've had people ask me before to do stuff like this and I've automatically replied with no. Just sucks because I wasted a lot of time I could have spent ...

It could be due to the angle of the chip nozzle being vertical in correlation to the poly chip and static. My vacuum set up is a little shop vac attached to a chip jar and clear plastic tubing going to a brass nozzle which is at a 45 degree angle up then perfectly horizontal near the stylus and I do...

What would you do in this situation...

So I'm doing a project for a guy and he wanted multiple copies on various colored poly of two different albums and come to find out after many many hours of work that the material he sent me are bootleg live shows. As I don't want to get caught up in any negativity in my cutting for people and being...

Every time I try to win some blank acetates on ebay I get outbid by this person, never fails.

Let a bruvah win once - you can't possibly need all of those blanks or at least sell a bruvah some damn :) hehe

So hypothetically speaking if one were to obtain an ortofon what is so negative about it? I have a bunch of mobile fidelity lps which were cut with ortofon heads and I think they sound fantastic. Also what would that head and amps actually be worth as an offer? I mean grampians fetch anywhere from $...

Thanks for the kind words Mike. Boris, to answer your question - for me it's because I'm helping someone realize their artwork into something that is more personal than a burned cdr.
