WTB 78 RPM FEEDSCREW FOR REK-O-KUT IMPERIAL II

Hey guys, let's give it a try here: Got a Rek-o-kut imperial II but it came with the Microgroove Feedscrew and iddlers for 33 and 45 RPM only. I need to get a 78 RPM complete feedscrew to mount it on my mechanism and a 78 iddler wheel if possible . Also a question: If I cut with the 78 RPM feedscrew...

MY FULLY FUNCTIONAL PRESTO K-8 FOR SALE - ANY OFFERS?

Hey guys - I gotta sell some stuff for school and to update my studio  Any offers for a PRESTO K-8? I got this machine 1.5 years ago and bought it from Gib Epling who made an AMAZING work with it. He rewired the whole unit, changed the tubes, and worked on the cutting head. The machine is FUL...

CUTTING ANGLE

Got a pair of brochures from my Presto and my Rek-o-Kut plus copies from an old book on "how to make good recordings" (LOL). They all say that machines like mine should go from perpendicular (I assume 90 degrees) up to 5 degrees up. Dunno if it applies to the big machines you are talking about but m...

Forgot to mention: I cutted those 20 plates as a beginner - it was my first try testing the cutter and it worked perfectly fine and the saphire lasted waaaay longer.

MAY I USE A SHORT-SHANK SAPHIRE WITH A PRESTO K-8?

Hey guys, I want to know if Presto K-8 are compatible with short shank saphires... I started using the presto with a long shank saphire but I have been using short shank steellites and wasn't that bad... The thread goes smooth but the sound is noisy (using old acetates here). LASER DISCS ANYONE?

Hello guys I experimented with a couple of big laser discs during the weekend and quite surprised :) Using a microgroove Imperial 2, just centering the hole (almost as a 45) and lifting the cutting arm a bit since the laser disc is wider ; The thread is different than lacquer but runs smoothly while...

How many OHM need an Audax mono head?

I am thinking my Audax cutter head is not woking at its best because I am only using 4 OHMS - Anyone know how much do I need? 6-8 enough? or 12 up to 16? Please let me know if it could make a difference.
Cheers
Jorge

GOING DEEPER TO OBTAIN BETTER SOUND USING AUDAX MONO HEAD?

Hello guys ; after killing a few blanks I finally set up the angle for a recording head from an Imperial II - I only have the top of the machine: turntable, microgroove lathe and Audax mono cutting head. "GOOD" COIL?

I am currently using a Rek-o-kut Imperial II lathe and I posted a topic regarding "bad" acetates a couple of weeks ago. Now, I am wondering if the "coil" could be my problem... First of all, my concept of "Coil" is about the one metal piece sitting behind the cutter pressed by an screw in order to b...

Hello there guys - Just got a box full of dead stock 10" yellow Audiodisc and there were spots on the surface... I cleaned them and tried to cut...BUT, I killed 4 steel needles and the noise while cutting is just awful... THEN, I tried to adjust the weight of my cutter-head (I am using a vintage REK...
