OR..on Neumann's they use a dash pot, a depth solenoid and a hold back spring to accomplish the same thing.

have never seen info on neumann feed screws...if you're a machinist, it should be fairly simple to measure the pitch and angle...maybe!

Neumann Disk Mastering products

Since Sennheiser abandoned any interest in the lathe side of Neumann's business, does it mean that it's effectively now in the public domain?

Most of the people who worked in the disk cutting side are no longer around. Are we free to 'reverse engineer' the designs if we so desire?

Thoughts? :?:

Re: Shure pulling the plug on phono cartridge production

So, Sennheiser abandon the Neumann lathe line..now Shure gives up on cart making.

Two manufacturers of lacquers, one of cutting styli, a handful of people who can rebuild heads and know their way around disk cutting machines with vinyl on the up turn.

Wotta woild!

Let's re do the pre emphasis curve! I'm sure back then no one ever envisaged today's overly bright digital recordings.
I mean an 18 db boost above 1K. a bit much maybe!

Totally wishful thinking! I mean modifying all those pre amps :D 8) just kidding guys!

wtb VSA 80 card

Once everyone has stopped laughing, let me know if anyone out there has one of these for sale.

Got stuck with an older version of this pitch card which was never swapped out by Neumann

I live in hope, don't we all.... 8)
