Also, at one point, back when I was trying out all sorts of materials with an Apollo stylus, I did cut a good sounding groove onto a tan vinyl one sided record. I tried it again once or twice briefly and didn't have the sane luck, but I know it is somewhat possible, because I still have that record...

if there will be youtube channel divoted to disk recording would be amazing. And when the pros are in those vids that would be a goldmine for future.

Information that is sitting on cd's doesn't help a bit ;)

David, you have done a very nice job there. Good progress. Good to see a DIY lathe and the cutter born. I have done a lot of DIY lathe and cutter. There is a lot to learn and to do. I just want to point you that every vibrating part should be as light as possible and bonded very good to each other. ...

Hmm maybe you would not get a full schematics of a pro cutter. Well I haven't found one yet. First I think You have to buy one and understand how things works and then you could try to clone one ;) I have tried some things. But nothing good to use and have decent results. Needs a lot of time and mon...

Interesting reading and very nice movie. Always watching this kind with pleasure.

I think that kind of silvering should be very economical solution. When spraying not all the solution is used. And here is like developing silver prints ;)

@Flozki yes, I understand that it could produce some rumble. But this planar reducer is best of all what I see to used that is most silent. Well... Anyway I think I would try to cut a silent groove when I will be ready and will see the result... Anyway if I will achieve some kind of result I will po...

I was thinking a little more drastic things to try... That is battery drill mechanism. As I have tried with colleagues to put it on the big wind machines in diameter of 1meter and they handled very well. Used them with PWM. They were quite stable and powerfull. Of course I cannot tell how stable the...

What exact model of motor are you using and hall sensor. I am into thoughts right now about it for my lathe. Seems like...

Jay, I have tried this but it was too much of a stepping. Not smooth as it should be. First I thought of a linistepper for this purpose but got dc motor with tacho generator and it works very nice. Btw I used half stepping and linistepper driver can do microstepping. Of course as I understand it is ...

Hey JayDC

Nice work. Just a little question here.
What kind of driver are you using for stepper motor? Microstepping, halfstepping? I have tried and it was bad for me. Too much noise and too much pronounced steps.

Anyway You have done a very nice control unit.
