When you say 'size', are you talking about the length of the diamond attached to the shank?
i.e. Souri diamond is longer than MyShank??

Re: Too Hot! getting the disc temperature right/swarf dropping
In my experience, the initial swarf pickup by the suction is one of the most critical parts. Once you have it running through to the swarf jar it usually takes a drop in suction, increase in static or blank warp to upset it. I used to use an old pump too and it was fine for months... then I began to...

It sounds like you're working though the problem logically which is a good thing!
My next area to question is your vacuum suction as it can cause all kinds of issues if not strong and consistant.
What type of vacuum are you using?

Not that I know of.
The closest I trust is Mr & Mrs MyShank in northern France.

Re: original RIAA curve with T560 (bypass souri's main unit)
How fast is the pitch motor running during that example cut? i.e. what's the number on the main unit dial Sounds like pitch motor vibration noise to me, given that you can hear the motor being switched on just after you drop the cutting head. As for the squeaks, I suggest experimenting with differen...

Couldn't agree more. Such a shocking loss. 2020 really sucked. My story is almost exactly like yours CutR... so much so in fact that we were probably in the Holloway Road 'shack' at the same time and never knew! Totally loved the vibe in and around there but, man, was that place a fire hazard! SO mu...

Re: precision plate adjustment T560 and also weird noise.
Hi, Dunno about your background noise but, having looked at your video, I'd say that you have the plate set up pretty good! Well within tolerance. It's almost impossible in a real-world scenario to even come close to 100% as you put it. My plate is set up with the same type of gauge with the same sc...

Re: Vinyl Recorder T560 Overhead Motor
So, also looking at Ben's photos, the capacitor is sitting on top of a board that is attached to the rear around the connections, if it is a Faulhaber, the model number would usually be stamped in the black plastic (under the board) ;-) The cap was soldered directly across the terminals on mine, id...

Hi Josh,
In the interest of fair balance, when you're doing your 'due diligence' reading, also take into account the number of folks on here who have nothing but praise for Souri and the service he provides for them and their businesses.
btw, I'm not one of them but I'm friends with some who are!

Re: Dashpot Oil - What Are You Using?
Vinyl Recorder - RC shock silicone oil. RC tires on the cutterhead, so seems quite fitting! I believe it is 500cSt or around 60wt. Can't remember! I just asked for the middle of the range expecting to go higher or lower. Very close match to what was in the syringe I got from Souri. I tried all sort...

Re: VR: Heat Affecting Dashpot?
Hi again, Something just occurred to me as I was doing some routine maintenance of my own VR today which might be relevant to the variable groove depth problem we've both had. It concerns the dash pot plunger and the threaded rod it's attached to... That threaded rod passes through a metal cube whic...

Re: T560 Motor/Locking nut issue ?
No idea what size of nut it is I'm afraid. However, if it is the nut that is slipping, you can try a couple of things: - clean any oil or debris from both the nut and VR thread it connects to - to increase the friction, use some fine sandpaper to lightly rough up the flat surface of the nut (the sur...
