Presto Census

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

K 8 - serial unknown, lathe was orphaned
J 10 - serial 299
A75 - can't find the serial.

The A75 is part of the y model set which I also have, just need to fix the connector from the lathe to the amp.

Can't wait till i get my heads back!

I have two Presto 6N's. One is the suitcase model, but it has no badge...the other was a console model that has a badge. I gave the console model a paint job. I'd love to see if someone had a loose badge to use to make a copy. I think enough folks are missing their badge to justify a small run of replacements.

And I can't wait to see it in action! I hoarded that thing most of my adult life.... Len H. tells me it's a good sounding amp!

Presto k8 serial# 1498 with fairchild 541a-727 cuttinghead.

I finally got it dialed in on the recording level. It took some time but it sounds nice with that tube distortion and lo fi ness.

Long live analog sound!
