The PIAPTK/Lathecuts.com Lathe Cave

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Awesome photos! Thanks for posting those. Great to see your cave!
One shot shows a strobe strip on the rim of one of your cutters. How did you calculate / make that?

I know for a fact at least 3 of these 6N's are Mexican bootleg "Presta" lathes...

Oh man, I didn't even notice the Feedscrew Bouquet. I wish I had one for a Rek-O-Kut M5.

There are actually NINE Presto 6Ns in there... one in a console behind me that is a lacquer unit. The rest are running poly. That weird timing strip unit had those markings when I bought it... have no idea how they calculated it..

And, actually Kris, I bought those three "mexican Prestas" in Bucharest from a shady dude in alley ... he had them hanging inside his trenchcoat.

Now I know why 6N prices got so high. You've been hoarding them all.

And there are at least 5x 6Ns that I owned at one time and sold to a friend out there... imagine having 14x 6Ns all running at once? Perhaps I can buy them back one day! JK.. 9 is enough for right now. They all get used, almost daily, though.
