2 new vinyl pressing plants opening in USA
some good news in terms of possibly making at least a small dent in the current long turn times for anyone wanting to get vinyl records pressed - small plants are opening in Vermont and Oregon:

Cascade calls a test pressing a "test press".
They claim stampers are made in a tin solution.
They claim 3-step processing involves making two mothers and a stamper.
It's nice to see new players in the market but, given their lack of knowledge and experience, I wouldn't be pressing my records there. Not yet, anyway.

I sent my first job to Cascade today. They are good people with former Hub Servall machines. Looking forward to the results

Every bloke and his dog is now jumping in the game, this is a good and a bad thing
Imagine the amount of angst until they get a good record out the door as well as the crap they will also send out
Having a few plants over the years in a few countries it seems so unrealistic that the game has gone on fire
It was not long ago when a client walked in or send in an order and we used to say yes sir three bags full
Today well the whole vinyl world knows the story wait wait wait
Amazing really!
Just over 2 years ago and with 10 machines installed in London we could not get enough work to run 5 days, may be 3-4 days, if lucky
Who could have predicted how have things changed
At any rate with an extra 150 machines on line it will only bring the delivery time back to 4 weeks as thats about the amount of presses running in the USA
It would be nice to have an accurate figure on that score
How many machines are running in the USA???
Cheers

i was just thinking that too today. i think there is 100-150 machines max? this would yield 30 million records a year in 1 shift... not counting tp's downtime + rejects etc..

It would be good to start a poll or some such thing to get reasonable accurate figure
Can you handle it Leandro?
cheers
