Headphones or speakers?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Headphones or speakers?

Hello guys, as newbie as I am I would like to know what would be better in order to cut records:

- Headphones

- Speakers

Which would be better? I can go as far as $500 or maybe $600 in order to buy either.

So feel free to recommend me what you guys think is the best option so I can start cutting! (brand and model)

I would like to take advantage of this thread and ask what would be better between a tube amp and a solid-state amp in order to use when cutting records.
