Scully/Neumann/Lyrec/PTS/Pitch18 lathe build
Hello, I made a simple little website today about my new lathe. It's been quite a project and I'm proud to say it's fully finished and cutting masters now. You can find it at http://www.guselg.com/
I'd be happy to answer questions or provide more information to anybody here on the forum.
Best regards,
Gus

Nice!
What camera/microscope system are you using?

The microscope is "Eakins" brand from aliexpress. It's 130x max zoom. I believe this is the one:

I also go the stand and monitor from aliexpress, the whole package was around $250 I think.

How are you taking measurements with this camera?skyonion wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 1:30 pmThe microscope is "Eakins" brand from aliexpress. It's 130x max zoom. I believe this is the one:

In the menu for the camera you can enable vertical or horizontal lines. I put 5 vertical lines on the screen, and when the camera is focused right the lines are spaced so that they will line up with 160 LPI on a disc. It's a little different but it works for me. More precise measurements can be made by holding a digital caliper up to the screen.

I had the same issue when I moved to a camera.
Another option: set your caliper to a known gap, say 0.002" and look at it under the microscope. Now place a piece of tape on your monitor and mark that distance. Then you'll always have it on screen.
