T560 Motor/Locking nut issue ?

Hey Guys

First post here!

Had my T560 for about a year now, great machine and has worked great until recently

Im not sure what the problem is, but when I lock the winding screw to start cutting the crank will spin and then momentarly stop and then start again causing the head to stop and cut to deep and make the record skip.

Sometimes it will do a full cut no problem and then sometimes it will stop and start all the time. I have tried to lubrecate everything again thinking that possibly everyhting had ceased up but that has not worked.

Any help trouble shooting or any one with the same problem that has managed to fix it would be great.

Also any info of any UK people that are offering services to service these machines that would be great.

Checked if the din connectors are tight?

When this happens, check to see if the drive nut is slipping.
That nut is the only thing which connects the motor output shaft to the feed screw so it's vital that it works consistently.

This may sound odd, but I've had more success with the drive nut turned the other way around.
You could try taking it off, flipping it over and re-threading it.

I think it may be the nut slipping, do you know what size the nut is ? will look into getting a replacment ....

I have flipped the nut the other way a few times but seems to be doing the same thing.

No idea what size of nut it is I'm afraid.
However, if it is the nut that is slipping, you can try a couple of things:
- clean any oil or debris from both the nut and VR thread it connects to
- to increase the friction, use some fine sandpaper to lightly rough up the flat surface of the nut (the surface which contacts the feedscrew and locks against it)

Check out my recent post. We had to change a part internally. Mine did the same, it was not the locking nut.

Are you 100% sure it is the locking nut and not the actual main unit internal part like mine that went?

like david said, could be the motor control in the main unit.
but if it's not, definitely worth mentioning that the crank is three distinct parts.
the black plastic wheel, the silver crank part, and the locking nut.
the silver crank hardware is threaded and could be loose as well, try tightening that up to the black plastic wheel

Does anyone know how the black plastic wheel stays in place? Is it also threaded?

Yes, it is threaded for a tube-like thread (dont know the correct term, it has nothing in the middle) but there is also another silver looking nut tied to the black wheel. Inside this thread is another tiny piece of threaded metal that is connected to the motor. The little nut ties the motor thread to the thread with the black wheel. The head is connected to the black wheel thread. At least this is how I think it works, I disassembled it once out of curiosity and I came with that conclusion. Hope this helps

So you can just screw the black wheel off, not glued or anything?

no, no, it is on screw and tightened by the silver nut next to it, no glue, at least on mine machine
