Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
I am looking for a plotter to be able to print and cut my own labels and 7" and 10" sleeves. I was wondering if anyone with experience in printing has any advice?
In the 'budget' area i've seen the Silhouette Cameo 4, would this be suitable? If not, do you have any links to something else i should be considering? Based in Europe.
Thanks!

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
My Toshiba copy centre prints A3, and 7" fits inside an A3 Paper.
I am very interested in printing the other sizes too, so I hope someone can answer!!

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't that only cut vinyl rolls?
Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
The cameo can cut loads of different materials, even fabric.I know one person who uses it and gets good results and with the Cameo 4 can make sleeves easy enough, but just wanted to see if anyone uses one, or something similar
Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
Has anybody tried using a Cricut "Maker" (www.cricut.com) to create some DIY record sleeves/packaging?
Looks like it is potentially up to the task for small projects.

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
cricut software is BASIC .. silhouettes software is brilliant .. i recommend cameo 3 or 4 or even a curio ... curio is good becuase you can fit 5mm items in it (so gatefold sleeves) it wont cut 5mm though12bitcuts wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:43 pmHas anybody tried using a Cricut "Maker" (www.cricut.com) to create some DIY record sleeves/packaging?

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
great idea! I've just used a combo of manual paper cutter and xacto blade to do my glue pocket jackets

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
I'm using a cameo 4, it works well when it works. Occasionally it'll start mis-registering and I'll have to restart the cameo, the computer or make a weird face and it'll start working again
I'm reluctant to use it to cut sleeves as I worry about the adhesive from the cutting mat transfering to the sleeve and then the record. I'm sure an inner sleeve would solve it.

Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
I hear ya, it (Cricut) is also subscription based & locked to there software only (I think) which I don't necessarily like.ABON wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 11:00 pmcricut software is BASIC .. silhouettes software is brilliant .. i recommend cameo 3 or 4 or even a curio ... curio is good becuase you can fit 5mm items in it (so gatefold sleeves) it wont cut 5mm though12bitcuts wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:43 pmHas anybody tried using a Cricut "Maker" (www.cricut.com) to create some DIY record sleeves/packaging?

In any case I haven't used the Cricut extensively I but did a small batch of full color vinyl sticker a while back and they came out great, this was over a year ago and I have not used my Cricut since.
Now I am getting active in record cutting again and after ordering some blank 7" labels recently, it looks like something a Cricut could easily cut, just need to find right material.
I'll try to give it a spin this month, just got to get a suitable template made in Illustrator.
Re: Plotter / Cutter for labels and sleeves
Just dropping in again to say how annoying the Silhouette Cameo 4 is.
I think it took me about 5 minutes to get one sheet of labels registering - maybe it's cause I keep re-tacking the matt...
