T560 Overhead motor

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Does anyone have advice / instructions on the dis assembly of the overhead motor / worm drive for the T560? I'm having clutch issues and wondering whether to change the clutch bearing or just tighten the screw tighter. TIA.

What issues are you having?

I (stupidly) left the groove motor running unsupervised so it ran right to the end of its travel. Since then it seems to move less freely and I need to tighten the thumb screw more in order to stop it slipping. So I presume I have damaged the clutch bearing.

Hm, its quite common for that to happen, and it shouldn't damage the clutch. It's more likely to be an issue with the lead screw itself. When you wind it back, the screw has to lock back onto the nut, so perhaps its cross threaded, or there is some grit / swarf stuck in there. I would try running it to the end of its travel again and gently winding it back to lock it back on.
