Rek o kut cvs turntable question

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Rek o kut cvs turntable question

Somehow I have yet another ROK turntable question: An acquaintance has a ROK cvs turntable for sale, but while the motor works, the platter does not turn. The idler wheel that turns the rim does not make constant contact with the tapered shaft on the motor, the pivoting arm that the idler is mounted on just floats free. Is there supposed to be a spring or some other mechanism that keeps the idler pressed against the shaft? I tried to find a pic of that part of the mechanism online, but none of the shots I could find show it.

Thanks,

Mark
