diskomat v2.0

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

diskomat v2.0

hello.
just did the first cut on my new disk-o-mat.
version 2. this time i built all from scratch. turntable, carriage all.
for first tests i use my "testpilot" grampian with a passive riaa encoder.
the passiv riaa i will present in the schematics section later.

so here some pictures from the mechanics. its much more compact.
and not so heayvy. the heaviest part is the turntable.approx 13 kg and 7 inch diameter. the turntable has vacuum suction from bottom.

also the mechanics consist of from the shelf parts and a few custom built parts. but nothing very complicate. so orders can pe placed.haha.
at the moment a lot is still beat and very bricolage...but it seems to work and much better than the last time.

more soon.

and a closer look to the turntable.

have a nice weekend

at the moment the record lenght is 1.5 minutes. which is for most people too long. so i will put to 1 minute or better i will add a end button so you can stop after the time you want and extend to 2.5 minutes....

speed is 45.

at the moment we show it in bern at an exhibition. until sunday

http://www.grossehalle.ch/reitschule/grossehalle/akt.html

but still some small problems. but becomes better and better.

Hi Flo,

Wow! Great stuff! You are a true inspiration to all of us DIY'ers. Keep it coming. Is there a video of the thing in action?
