Technics SL1200 Discontinued ??

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

As well know the import to Europe was stoped since February of this year.

They simply discontinued the 1200 line. They are still going to produce the 1210 M5G. They just wanted to depricate the old line in favor of the new.

As far as I know the main differences are: it's black and it has a button that overrides the pitch slider and sets it to zero. I've been told numerous times that the electronics are mostly the same. Some parts are even interchangeable between the 1210 M5G and 1200.

So, unless you are in love with the silver case, the news about the 1200 series shouldn't bother you. Technics will still be making the pro quality dj turntables we all know and love.

Yes, the second link shows a letter from Panasonic Australia to its dealers. It advises that Panasosnic has discontinued manufactire of "analogue turntables" due to the downtourn in global demand. It does say all turntables not just silver ones.

This sucks so badly and once again it's all about money....
The bad thing is also there is not really a comparable product on the market.
vestax is made out of plastic and all the other once are not as good.
what a shame....
hey the guy who got this letter lives 5 minutes from where i am:)

pioneer is the only company i would trust with that task.. i'd surely use them, they make great, imo the best DJ mixers on the market..
