Contract between label and artist?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

hey guys i want to release a record next year.
So i would like to have one track from someone else on it as well.
The question is where can i get a contract from?
It's basically just one track and a one off payment from me to the artist..
Cheers

just pop into a lawyer, they should draw you up a small contract.
my guessing is that this contract needs to witnessed by you , the artist and lawyer

Hey Boris

Hit me up and I'll send you a copy of the contract I use for my artists and you can just edit what you need to on it :)
all the best!

technically speaking, a verbal contract (while harder to prove) is binding,. but if you don't want to pay someone a couple hundred dollars to draw up a contract, just writing out the terms of the agreement, and then having it signed by both parties (and preferably notarized) should be fine. Wouldn't be as good in a court case with high priced lawyers, but I doubt that something like this would ever get that far. I don't ever use contracts, becasue it seems kind of sleezy, but, I haev started drawing up agreement sheets that I send to the bands ahead of time, and then get a written confirmation that they read it via email, just so there is no doubt about what I am going to be doing. That has worked fine for me.
