vacuum pump vms70

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Today I finally got a small bit of downtime and decided to isolate my vacuum pump inside a small closet next to my lathe.

The difference is amazing. That little vacuum pump was so freaking loud that is was painful if you had to listen to it 4 or 5 hours a day.

I can't wait to get some expanding foam and insulation to see if I can get it even more quiet.

The worst part was the swimming pool hose that is the right size is $3.25 a foot. Cost me almost 40 bucks in hose alone, but after one cut, it is totally worth it.
