Anyone else here from Melbourne?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Melbourne? Melbourne sucks, mate!!

On a serious note, the only other lathe in Melbourne apart from Mossy's VMS70 is a VMS66 with SX74 and a Neumann console which I think is an SP272 in a private home studio. Is that the one you're referring to?

I dont think he is the kind of guy that would be experimenting with an SX74 or would worry about the cost of lacquers. I would say that all the people cutting on non-lacquer discs are already here.

The best coffee in Oz is imported from Italy (and I think Greece). We have it here too. Give me a shout next time you're in Sydney.

PS: Melbourne still sucks!

Ohhh , but that isn't an Australian exclusive , this occurs in all places over the world , this is the globalization , the ordinary citizen has been totally alienated , in that way they avoiding the people to think and limit the social development of us.
Very Busy days , some cutting works at least , soon online again

We must promote the use and abuse of vinyl records.

Welcome to the forum Godinpants. Hmmm... interesting alias.

Your best source for cutting gear is right here. keep an eye on the "Classifieds and Tip-Offs" section.

There is no source for cutting gear in Oz.

The pants help differentiate me from the more traditional god in robes. It's also the name of my (one man)band.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on the classifieds section, once I've worked out what it is i'm looking for exactly.

Hey All
Look I will summarise this Melbourne Sydney debate
Melbourne is a Lady
Sydney is a Whore
OK!!!!
Lived in Melbourne 30 odd years Have lived in Sydney as well 5 years
Most livable city in the world Melbourne
Fantastic place to also be around to live have fun it is Sydney but around the harbour
Two different cities each with good bad and indifferent points in each Leave the harbour or the North Shore in Sydney and it is a wasteland Find your way to Cabramatta and Rooty Hill you are in another planet
Melbourne is always a genteel nice place everywhere and Mike you know that Melbourne does not Suck Not when ever you hook up with me anyway or ask your young one trotting up and down Brunswick street spending your hard earned cash He He But you are biased
In so far as music is concerned no doubt it is Melbourne
Brunswick Fitzroy Richmond Northcote or in the City I can take a trip around these spots which are within a 5-7 mile circle and visit at least 50 live music venues from Monday to the following Monday without visiting the same place twice and enjoy two or three bands in each place
You get this in Sydney? Doubt it
Coffee?
Cheers
Chris
