Cutting houses in detroit?

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

opcode66 is in chicago, its pretty close.. judging from your location, I think your looking for someone in detroit to get that "detroit techno" sound..

I'm sure opcode will give you exactly what you want, they are also into the house/techno sound.. and chicago is the place for house music..
generally its for reproduction.. but i like to play wif it sometimes.. :P

Thank you JayDC.

Actually its because i'm planning to go to Detroit. I why not cut a dub and visit a cutting brother or sister.

The techno sound is more than welcome, but not pertically what i'm looking for.

Any record cutting have interesst.

Anyone know if the studio where the late Ron Murphy use to cut, is still open?

I cut for a number of Detroit techno and house labels which will not help you.

Jeff Mills and Mad Mike Banks have Ron Murphy's Scully and cut the last few UR records on it

It is true we have Ron's old Scully however we haven't cut anything on it yet. We're still in the process of rebuilding the electronic components in the Haeco amp with some help for modifications from some old Motown friends. We're getting closer though. We had to find a new way to improve the old Holtzer op amps and build in a new cooling system along with some other mods. When we're done we will have made all the improvements Ron was working on before he died. We should be able to do some monster cuts once it's ready.
