podcast on vinyl mastering

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Of possible interest to some here -
both Paul Gold of Salt Mastering (who sometimes posts here as "gold") and myself were recently interviewed by Adam Gonsalves of Telegraph Mastering for his audio mastering podcast series "Square Cad".

Paul goes over how he got into lacquer cutting and some of the basics of lathe anatomy and vinyl mastering - and I focus on some advice for good practices mixing and pre-mastering for vinyl releases.

You can hear these at
http://www.squarecad.net
&

Many thanks to Adam for inviting me to speak and for editing down my verbal spewings into something closer to coherent sentences! The rest of the podcasts are excellent to check out as well for anyone interested in mastering.

Best regards,
Steve Berson
