presto k8 cutterhead dc resistance

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

hello. need to fix a presto k8
the winding it had on was totally burned.
with measuremnts of windings and diameter i get approx.
a dc resistance of 3 ohm.

i guess this was not the original winding.
what do other k8 users have
500 ohm?
8 ohm?

thnaks if you can quickly grab a multimeter and check it out.

Busy day lately , sorry for delay , the multimeter read a bit more than 10 ohms (analog multimeter , I know , not a lot of precise ). And...in one post here , Jesus H Chrysler told me that if I want to replace the original head with a Presto 1C must be the 15 ohms version.

Hope can be useful.

Best Regards

We must promote the use and abuse of vinyl records.
